My dear Mrs. Lewes
I inclose the London Subscription List of Theophrastus as far as completed and I hope it will please and cheer you. It was quite a fillip to say to my Uncle this morning and he agrees with me in reprinting to the extent of 1500 which will about exhaust the stock of paper we have in hand for it. Would you oblige by sending me a telegram in answer to my querie about printing words Second Edition on title page if you have been unable to write to day as we are very anxious of not checking the sale in any way by not having copies in stock to supply all orders. We are trying to have this reprint ready on Saturday.
We have received payments of £10 from Bohn of Haarlem for right to translate Theophrastus into Dutch, and £25 from Dr. Lehman into German. I have now the pleasure of enclosing you cheque for the two amounts. We have not yet heard from Messrs. Harpers about their payments but hope to do so shortly. Congratulating you upon the successful start of "Theophrastus Such"

P.So. On reading my letter I see I have omitted to mention how favourably my Uncle is progressing and last evening he sat up for several hours and passed a very fair night. I think and hope to see him out of his bedroom in a few days.
