Transforming Middlemarch: A Genetic Edition of Andrew Davies' 1994 BBC Adaptation of George Eliot's Novel is an AHRC-funded digital humanities project created by Justin Smith, Gabriel Eagan, Anna Blackwell, Lucy Hobbs, Natalie Hayden and Beverley Rilett. The project was completed over 2 years and published at DeMontfort University in the UK in May 2023; over the following year, the interface was redesigned for the Omeka-based George Eliot Archive by Auburn University graduate research assistants Dheeraj Bhaskaruni, Vennela Akula, and Nayanika Rajoli. In 2025, following a server migration, Libo Sun and Yue Cui performed further adjustments.
All project assets linked in the shooting script and post-production script, such as images, documents, metadata, and video clips, are also available below for independent scholarship.
