George Street | Edinburgh July 13/76.
My dear Mrs. Lewes
I was delighted to see your letter to my Uncle and hear that both you and Mr. Lewes had begun to recover your appetites and were having pleasant walks and scenery that was to your liking. I have no later news than the 11th of the month to send you of Deronda but that is most satisfactory and healthy. On that date Mr. Langford reported the following sales of Daniel Deronda at 37 Paternoster Row
June 1 to 30 Book 1 113
Book 2 76
Book 3 73
Book 4 46
Book 5 to June 30 6094 to July 11 5957 and before the month is out I feel pretty sure Book VI will have tied with Book V. Our
Sales here continue very steady and we are well up with the other Books.
Trusting this finds you continuing to improve in health and strength and with best remembrances to Mr. Lewes
ever yours sincerely
(signed) William Blackwood.
