Caroline [Mrs. Charles] Bray to Sara Sophia Hennell, Coventry, 6 April 1845
Text: Bray-Hennell Extracts, Tinker Collection, Yale. Hitherto unpublished.
This affair of M.A.'s is much on our minds; although it is given up irrevocably, she is so extremely wretched about it, and we know, wants it to come on again -- not that she cares much for him, but she is so grieved to have wounded his feelings, and he has behaved so well and unselfishly that he deserves pity, if not more. But we can do nothing in the matter -- indeed she entreats us not to meddle, and the Hootons are the only parties who could -- they being the friends of both. She says it shall not interefere with the M.S., but poor girl, everything seems against the grain with her.
