April 1851: Mr. Mackay called and staid some time, to whom I read Miss Evans's letter received this morning concerning the [Catalogue raisonnée] which I wish to get up.
April 1851: Received a note from Miss Evans applauding Mackay's [suggestions] for the Catalogue and enclosing specimen critiques from her on Newman's books.
April 1851: Received a letter from M. in answer to my inquiry in which she expresses her willingness to abridge Strauss for £100; -- she is beginning to like the Catalogue work, and is now doing Miss Martineau's letters.
April 1851: Received from Miss E. a letter addressed to Susanna it was written in an able and excellent manner, and will I hope result in good. I forwarded it as she requested [to Truro], as she did not know the address.
April 1851: <An interesting letter from Miss E. who is I am sorry to say still suffering.>
April 1851: <I had a short simple note from M. this morning, which E[lisabeth Tilley] read and then flew into a great passion, and begged me not to speak to her.>
April 1851: Sent Susanna my last letter before her return, enclosing one from Miss Evans for her, and hope they will become better friends now.
May 1851: Received a cool letter from Miss Evans about the Catalogue, regret to learn she has been ill.
