Dear Sir
As I explained to you some time ago it is incumbent upon me to secure two gratuitous articles for each number of the Review; I venture therefore to ask whether in proposing the article on Prison Discipline you did so on the assumption that it would be paid for on the usual terms. 178 If such were the case I must of course make my arrangements accordingly with reference to the rest of the papers in the number.
I am glad to say that the current number is selling well. It had a very narrow escape from being all burnt; the type which was still standing was all destroyed. 179 My loss altogether will fortunately not exceed 'a335. I am dear Sir,
Yours sincerely
John Chapman.
