George Eliot and Lewes are looking wonderfully well. Lewes is positively blooming and does immortal credit to St. Andrew, as he calls his doctor. Her new novel is actually on the stocks and he thinks she is nearing the point when her doubts, which oppress her so dreadfully at starting, will disappear and she will go full swing at it. This is good news.
They were delighted to hear what I had to tell of the sale of Middlemarch and also of the Poems 92 and that will stimulate the new work.
