My Dear Langford
I got your telegram last night and am very much destressed to hear of Mr. Lewes' death 159 especially thinking of her left all alone.
I feel it so much that I propose to come up to London on Tuesday in case I might be in any way a comfort to her. She will feel terribly left to herself. At such a time she may feel a relief in the sight of a friend and I suppose I am about the oldest and truest she has.
My wife will not let me go alone and we propose to go to the Bristol in Burlington Gardens if they can take us in.
always yours truly
John Blackwood.
Mrs. Blackwood is writing to the Bristol but you might look in and telegraph what they can do for us. The ground floor would suit as well as anything.
