June 6/68.
My Dear Lewes
I drop a line on the chance of catching you at Baden where I hope Mrs. Lewes and you are well and enjoying yourselves. 769 The change after her great excitement and fatigue would be most desirable for her.
The subscription to Gypsy was not grande chose by any means, some 400 or 500, but the inclosed memorandum sent for my information will show you that it is satisfactorily in motion. There is a review in Times of 4th 770 which I daresay you will see. The review is rather wise and does not give extract enough but will do good, especially coming so early.
Did you get the Magazine 771 before you went? As I am uncertain whether this will reach you I do not write more.
always yours truly
John Blackwood.
G. H. Lewes Esq.
