My dear Lewes
I think you are mistaken about Owen as I have frequently observed that people generally have a notion that he has done a great deal but nothing like precise knowledge of what it is. That you are mistaken in thinking yourself unfitted for reviewing his discourses I feel certain. You are quite the sort of man to do the thing. The papers in Quarterlies do not much matter.
By the way when you see him ask if in his present state of existence he will ever be able to review Keith Johnston's Physical Atlas. He said he would do so, some years ago but I fear he will always be too busy.
Let G.E. know that I am told there is to be a most enthusiastic Review of Adam in the North British. 443 I should not wonder if it were by our friend Dr. John Brown, "the worshipper of genius" as we call him.
