My Dear Mrs. Lewes
I am very glad to hear that you have got safely back and have enjoyed the "saury"[?] and I hope you have both benefited by the expedition.
I shall write to Mr. Main about the extracts from Middlemarch. It strikes me he has made rather too many extracts from so new a book, 834 but I shall look through them.
You will be pleased to hear that the 21/- edition continues to sell steadily. It is very satisfactory.
We have been almost entirely at home except for a run of a week into the Highlands. We went the whole family with nephew and niece, and Hamley joined us at Perth. We had a great deal of rain but it interfered little with our enjoyment, which was very great. The weather here is mixed to use a mild phrase, but it never interferes with Golf.
I am well although just at present suffering from one of those horrid stomach attacks which floor one. With best regards to Lewes, believe me
