My Dear Madam
I feel deeply gratified by the kind consideration for my wish shown in your letter today 690 and I am satisfied that what you propose to say and have said to the Working Men will hit the nail on the head and may possibly be of great service. Your doubts are better than other men's certainties, 691 and I will rather take my "chance of your doing" this than ask any one else to try their hand. You have the knowledge of what the working men ought to do and the real feeling towards them which will give a force to your words which no ordinary address could possibly possess. I do therefore earnestly hope that you will go on.
The great Poem is now fairly in the Printing Office. Every line of it nearly "donne 'e0 penser." The beauty of the language and thoughts is something perfectly marvellous.
Willie went up to London yesterday to see his brother 692 off to India, and I have no doubt they will be with you tomorrow or next day if not already.
I write in a great hurry, having been away for a grand pitched Golf match. My chosen mate and I were beat in the morning, but in the end covered ourselves with glory.
