My Dear Madam
The first volume of your M.S. arrived safely today and Mr. Simpson has carried it off affectionately in his arms to the Printing Office, where calculations are now being made as to the extent etc.
I hope the pictures from Adam will be good. I wonder no one has selected the scene of Hetty tricking herself out at night in her room. I suspect the very best artist would feel himself utterly done by the perfection of your worst picture.
Before letting Mr. Simpson hug the M.S. I glanced over some passages, and you will be pleased to know how vivid and familiar the scenes sound to me.
