My Dear Madam
I had the pleasure of receiving your note telling of your safe return to the Priory and I only wish you could have told of Lewes' feeling less creaky. I hope Fidalma is floating along.
I have indeed been enjoying the country and golfing not a little. At present I am here on some sad business owing to the long illness of a brother-in-law and my sister's health having broken down in attendance upon him so that there are both husband and wife helpless. 647 I intended to have written a long letter but am interrupted.
