My dear Willie
You return after "witching the world with noble horsemanship" 111 to George St. where alas! we shall not be able to see you this year; for instead of getting better if anything I get worse, and Mrs. Lewes is but so so. I have written to your uncle explaining how impossible the idea of the Scotch journey has become.
Your news about Romola is indeed delightful. I really forget all about the advertisement -- my brain is not good for retaining impressions just now.
We have not heat here to complain of -- it is rather cool than hot -- but the weather is wonderfully fine; and it's a shame that I don't get better with all the idleness (forced idleness) and all the care.
En revanche there is the great satisfaction of hearing of your uncle's restoration to something like his former self.
