I have just been warned that the American reprint of the Physiology (by Messrs. Appleton 511 of New York) is announced in "La Bibliographie de France" as for sale in Paris where it has no more right to be sold than in London; and it is urged upon me that we ought, as a matter of principle, to resist this. Qu'en dites vous?
The letters you enclosed were of the usual order of foolishness and one's admirers so seldom "rise above the rank of an idiot" as Carlyle says!
I have been so busy that my second visit to the Row has still to come off.
