Dear Friends
A hamper of game which anonymously arrived at the Priory and was sent on here, we conclude to have come from you. 208 You might have sent some jelly with the hare -- in the shape of a letter telling us all about yourselves and your wanderings since we last saw you. Had you done so I would have told you, what I won't now, how we sauntered through France in search of unfindable health -- reached Plombi'e8res where we stayed three weeks and were perfectly delighted with it. I would have told you how we went from Plombi'e8res to Luxe[u]il and Nancy -- I being goaded by malaise to change from place to place till we reached Homburg and stayed there a fortnight to get thoroughly sick of it. I would have told you of our tour through the war district, and of our settlemant at last in this lovely solitude but most uncomfortable house. I would have told you that we often talked of you and wondered whether you were in the mountains of Cadore 209 or in the North (not with the Buggs!) and how we propose being once more at the Priory at the end of this month -- with hopes that even Stopford Brooke would not always seduce some one from her allegiance, and that she would remember the religious house! All this I would have told you -- and you see what you have lost for the want of a little jelly!
Dorothea, who is not yet strong, though without positive ailment, sends her love to both.
