Sunday.
My dear Lytton
Your niece 279 told me yesterday, at the Concert that you were coming to Cavendish Square 280 and not to Knebworth. Now I presupposing that you would go there dispatched my criticisms and the copy to that address. Send for them, and read them as the remarks of one truly interested in your success, and therefore not willing to slur over objectionable points. I firmly believe you have only to hold out your hand to grasp a great and lasting success. No such fantastic poem has come in my way for many years -- and by it I think you may realize the promise of your youth. But severe surgery will be necessary and the two volumes must be reduced to one.
In great haste
Ever yours
