My dear Lord Houghton
Will not your friendship for Swinburne and good will to the Fortnightly prevail over your scruples, and induce you to review [Chastelard] for us? 677 We are a great success; but it is in the direction of Literature that we are weakest, therefore I want your aid. Don't say no! Believe me,
Yours very faithfully
G. H. Lewes.
If you refuse I shall have to do it myself -- a loss both to the Review and to Swinburne. 678
