Dear Lady Amberley
I find I promised what could not be performed -- the [Hindu Drama] 742 not having yet been republished. But in the hope that you may find something to interest you in Wilson's account of Hindu Fiction I send these volumes.
Your charming sister 743 got me on my weak (or strong?) point last night, and I fear I was dreadfully egotistical, (L'amour est l''e9goisme 'e0 deux); but if any one will mention my Madonna to me, why "their blood be on their own head!"
That was a most felicitous mot of yours in defence of my position that [class against class was better than class over class] -- it would tell in the House. Believe me
