My dear Carus
Our friend Miss Edwards 19 proposes to stay some weeks in Leipzig, and if you can help to make her stay pleasant and profitable I am sure you will do so. You are perhaps too busy a man to have read her novels, but you will not be too busy to enjoy her acquaintance.
I think she would be pleased to go over your Museum in your company. Perhaps also you could make her acquainted with Czermak, 20 to whom give my remembrances, and tell him I sent him a number of [Nature] with a slight notice of his [Studien.] 21 This is a long time ago, but perhaps he didn't receive it.
By the time you receive this I hope your war labours will be happily over. A friend to whom I gave a letter for you 'abthe'bb last summer told me you had joined the army.
Ever yours faithfully
G. H. Lewes.
