My dear Blackwood
Harpers have agreed to give 300 'a3 for the early sheets on condition of the work not being published here till 10 days after delivery to them of the last sheet -- as they can have the last sheet when it is sent to us for correction, this will not I presume delay you a single day. Tauchnitz has also agreed to give 'a3100 for the reprint in Germany.
Will you ask Mr. Simpson to take these matters in hand, and see that the sheets be sent to Sampson Low as they are worked off -- and to Williams and Norgate volume by volume? The American people are ticklish to deal with and unless they get their sheets regularly and in time, they may object to pay. I have a written stipulation from Sampson
Low that no portion shall appear in America until the whole is published here.
