Holly Lodge | Tuesday.
My dear Blackwood
Your letters and checque arrived this morning; and the proofs I suppose will come this afternoon. Will you please "put on the steam" with the printing now, as in a few days the greater part of the 3rd volume will be sent. I don't know whether I ever explained to you our object in having the printing done in advance -- we want to reach Rome by Holy Week and in fact want to be there as soon as it is possible, so that no sooner is the last sheet corrected than off we start without even waiting to see the book out. To effect this it will be necessary that all should be printed off by the time the last few sheets are sent, so that not a day will be lost in delays.
I have got so many matters to settle that I shall not be able to write any more articles before returning to work.
Your enjoyment of Maggie is a cheering sign. I think so much character, life, and at the close so strong an interest of story must carry the book at least everywhere where Adam went.
We shall be delighted to see your nephew.
Mrs. Lewes begs me to add her kind regards and that she was very much pleased with your note but has no time to say anything this morning. No more proofs need go to Sheard.
I suppose the Physiology and Seaside Studies will be out before we start?
Ever faithfully yours
G. H. Lewes.
John Blackwood Esq.
