My dear Blackwood
I have now made a clearing in the forest of correspondence which had sprung up for me during absence and am ready to set to work again -- as you may suppose after three months and more during which pen has not touched paper except for a rare letter. Have you any subject to propose for Maga? -- any book in my way you would like reviewed? There is only one subject I can think of at present and that is the connection of great wits with mad wits 591 -- but it wants turning over, and if you think it promises I will turn it over while finishing the bit of work I undertook before quitting England -- viz. the editing of the modern dramatists for Brockhaus. 592
Pug you will rejoice to hear, is in high feather, and has actually developed a bark! For the rest I find the world much as I left it.
I intend making another descent on Langford shortly to get news of the books. Kindest regards to the Major
