My dear Blackwood
We reached home considerably knocked up having come from Leipsic without stopping on the way. Your letter with the checque (for which thanks) was laid aside, and I did not get it till last night.
I will see Mr. Simpson and consult with him about the C.S. and give him also the 2d volume of Bedesman to take back with him. We are not a little curious to hear your impressions thereof.
In spite of Maga's willingness to take more of the chapters on Physiology, and in spite of the advantage there is in having them printed first -- as a sort of rough draft to work from -- I think that the paper which goes herewith, and the one on [Sleep] 1188 (to be written) are all that we had better print, in order to preserve a sufficient quantum of novelty.
If there is time I intend preparing a paper 1189 for the British Association of Science this year under Owen's presidency. I wish to give that official publication to some very astounding results I got at in Munich; and in the book I can then refer to that official publication. If there is not time, I must come out without
