My dear Blackwood
I have just discovered an unpleasant blunder of mine in Sea-Side Studies in which I attribute an oversight to Dr. Carpenter not committed by him; as an erratum will not properly rectify such a passage, I wish you would have page 293 cancelled, and a new one substituted according to the corrected page enclosed. 359 As the fault is mine I should of course pay for this extra printing.
I will send you the first volume of Johnston shortly.
The subscription to Clerical Scenes is very promising -- and thanks to the [Times] the edition will doubtless go off. 360 G.E. is much pleased thereat.
Ever yours faithfully
G. H. Lewes.
I presume you have received the illustrations before this?
