My dear Blackwood
Your bill for 1434 £ and cheque for £100 arrived in due course. Mrs. Lewes begs me in thanking you to say that the success has been quite as great as she ever expected and much greater than the book deserves. The crescendo of admiration ought to tell upon the sale in volumes, for many people refuse to read it in parts.
She is a little -- not much -- better and tomorrow you will receive the m.s. of Part VII which has been so unfortunately delayed. We stay here till the 2d but the Book won't alas! be finished then. However no sooner is the last sentence written than we shall fly.
Our kindest regards to Willie and von Moltke Simpson whose strategy has been so well employed for us!
