My dear Blackwood
Your checque arrived in due course. Respecting the publication of the "Mill" we think it will be more prudent to wait till October -- no one buys at this period, and the start is important.
I have observed for several months that Smith 828 does not exhibit any of the novels either at London Bridge or Waterloo. I don't suppose that he has sold all his copies (if so he might replace them) but if he keeps them unseen they stand a poor chance. Does your traveller ever jog their attention to such points? When idle men waiting for the train run their eye over the bookstall they are tempted to buy what they see, and not to ask for what they don't see.
The lovely weather seems to have departed again!
