GHL to John Blackwood, London, 10 January 1876
MS: National Library of Scotland. Hitherto unpublished.
The Priory, | 21. North Bank, | Regents Park.
January 10/76.
My dear Blackwood
I observe that you have not billed the Contemporary or Fortnightly Reviews; the former has become a very important organ circulating among probable buyers of Deronda, and I think that in the next number at any rate a bill might be inserted with effect 381 -- better late than never! Mrs. Lewes is better again, and the third volume is oh! so grand! 382
I think of reproducing some half dozen of the illustrations which appeared in the [Physiology of Common Life] in my 3rd volume. 383 Would you object to let Tr'fcbners have casts of them? I haven't quite determined the point, nor the figures to be chosen; but I should be glad to have the casts if you see no objection.
I believe you bind the proofs of Mrs. Lewes's books? I am preserving them for you.
Ever yours
G. H. L.
