My dear Sir
The more I think over the suggestion I threw out respecting the guinea edition of Middlemarch on thinner paper the more I see its fairness and its chance of acceptance. 128 It should be advertised as ostensibly inferior to the other, and then no one need grumble at having paid more for the [fine paper copy.]
Mrs. Lewes has just come back from a visit to country friends laid up with neuralgia and indigestion -- not a good result of festivities! We hope you are enjoying Christmas without such consequences.
