By this post goes the article on [Uncivilized Man] -- with one of the volumes for extract. 520 The paper is short -- let me hope [sweet] also. -- When I proposed it I thought the books (which I hadn't read) would have furnished better details. But so few men have eyes to see!
Mrs. Lewes, who has been very low and poorly is better again and at work. She is writing magnificently and as usual can't be made to believe that it is worth reading! It was pleasant to see the [Mill] in the two charming volumes. 521

The greatest of German physiologists 522 (whom I don't know) has just sent me a book of his -- which shows that the [Physiology] is held of some account abroad.
