My dear Blackwood
I got a letter from you from Gebliston intimating that you were not going to send me a proof. I presume you meant one annotated by yourself. I wrote off at once to beg you to send one and to-day you anticipate me. It returns by this post.
The above address will be ours after Monday the 26th. Please let it be substituted for Holly Lodge in your books and memory. It is a furnished house we have taken for 6 months, all our efforts to find a suitable house having failed; and from there we shall be able to look about us and

I shan't be able to get to Edinburgh before the 2 or 3rd of October I fear. Is the '91Bedford'92 a good and reasonable batchelor's hotel?

Tell Mr. Simpson that if he has heard of any one likely to suit me, for my boy, I shall be glad to see him when I come. At present I rather incline to Mr. Robertson, 639 to whom Schmitz warmly recommended me. Mrs. Stirling cannot alas! take my boy.
