GHL to George Croom Robertson, London, [7 January 1876]
MS: University College, London. Endorsed: 7/1/76. Thanks. Glad he is thinking of matter for No. II.
The Priory, | 21. North Bank, | Regents Park.
My dear Robertson
I thought I had given you to understand on learning that Bain was to find the funds, 321 that I should consider all my contributions gratuitous. It is hard enough that he should have to bear the brunt of the inevitable expenses.
No. I seems to me very promising, all the papers are interesting, and that of Pattison 322 a real contribution to the history of our time. Stupendous as the judgment of Prof. Flint seems to be on Brentano 323 I think the review itself quite a pattern of useful notices.
I have one or two things in petto for No. II. When I see you I will consult you about them.
Ever yours truly
G. H. L.
