GHL to Edward F. S. Pigott, Witley, [25 September 1878]
MS: Mr. Gordon N. Ray.
The Heights, Witley, | Nr. Godalming.
Dear Pigott
We shall be delighted to see you as proposed on Saturday.
I do not think you can safely license Les Lionnes Pauvres. 462 It is really a very moral piece but the situations are too scabreuse, and the public is so stupid that it will fasten on them.
Adultery is one thing -- but adultery furnishing rooms and dressing ladies in the fashion! In haste
Yours ever
G. H. L.
