My dear Main
Our boxes are packed for our return to the Priory and I snatch half an hour of unoccupied fatigue -- I can't say rest -- to answer your last. Your view of the change in G.E.'s style agrees pretty well with mine only it exaggerates the difference. But then I am not properly placed to appreciate the change which to me must have been so gradual. She and I were delighted at the idea of your reading to your blind friend. How I envy you the pleasure! And seeing a thought dawn on his face till the face becomes all eye! We hope the book will be finished by the middle of next month -- then complete rest will set her up.
You asked me not to forget you in case any literary employment should present itself -- be assured I shall be on the alert. Meanwhile it strikes me that you may earn a few pounds presently by writing up your walking tour into a Magazine paper. 585 "Lost in the Glens" would be an attractive title leading the reader through a series of pictures and poetic musings and winding up with your adventure. This if told simply and picturesquely would be pleasant reading; and a walking tour may be made the vehicle of any amount of musing and meditation -- as it is usually the occasion of such. If this plan pleases you work it out carefully and I will do my best to get it in some good Magazine when I come back from the Continent. It might be an introduction for you to an editor. You will hear from Mrs. Lewes before we start. Meanwhile, believe me
