My dear Main
I fear there is no chance of Bradbury and Evans undertaking the Dictionary and as the copyright is theirs we must let the matter drop. I am sorry for your sake and the public's.
You will be glad to hear that my son Charles is a happy father at last. His first baby was born strangled, and the poor wife has been grieving ever since for a substitute which she has got at last in the form of a healthy vigorous girl. It is a great comfort to us as you may imagine.
You will soon be dandling Celia's baby in your sympathetic arms. But Book VI will I think surpass all its predecessors and Book VII promises to be equally strong. Mrs. Lewes is not quite so well as she was at first -- the sudden changes of temperatures affect her injuriously -- but she still continues to be vigorous at her work. And I am better too.
