My dear Main
Your silence raises unpleasant misgivings in our minds respecting the state of your health, or the state of your post office -- we trust the latter.
Some weeks ago I wrote to tell you that B. and E. were not apparently disposed to undertake the mathematical work -- also that my son Charles was at length a happy father. Did this letter reach you? And did you reply? If so, can you remember the date in order to attack the P. O. for its negligence.
Mrs. Lewes you will regret to hear has not been well lately -- a whole week wasted in headache and malaise. She caught a chill and this shifting weather prevents her getting better. Today however she is looking up again and is at work.
