Dear Main
Your two letters were very interesting, and your story about the Lectures immensely significant. Mrs. Lewes was very poorly when yours to her arrived. She has had another attack of stone -- the pain of which is excruciating -- and leaves her weak and fluttering, but she is now again getting into her usual state, and will no doubt improve after this.
Don't expect to hear from us unless we have something special to communicate -- letter writing is so onerous -- but be sure of our constant regard.
