MS: Harvard.
The Priory, | 21. North Bank, | Regents Park.
My dear Main
We only returned half an hour ago from a stay with friends in the country 73 -- it is my absence from home which has prevented my writing to you to say that the effect of your book 74 on my son and on myself is all that you could wish. As he says it is utterly free from the fragmentary scrapiness of extracts.
Mrs. Lewes is far from well. I took her away in hopes the change would do good -- but it hasn't.
Yours faithfully
