Dear Main
It is well you should know and be prepared for Chapman's laxity as to answering and indeed in business matters generally. 763 He is a good fellow, and a kind one but exasperating in business relations from an easy carelessness.
I spoke to him about sending you Boswell (Croker). He promised to do so, but you will have to write half a dozen letters before you get the book -- and so of all things!
Your £100 comes quite irrespective of the sale of the 1st ed. 764
Ever yours
G. H. L.
