My dear Main
I think it would be very graceful of you to acknowledge your debt to the Cowden Clarkes in the way you propose, and I think they will be pleased. 860
The Problems will not appear until the 15th November. A Russian publisher has paid £50 for the advance sheets for translation of this volume and he must have a fair start. 861 Besides November is a better month than October; and I presume your Johnson will also appear in November. Have you seen the paragraph about it which I enclose from the Athenaeum? 862 It will do you service.
I am gratified to find that the Reflex Theory has proved suggestive to you. In the Problems (not those soon to appear) it will be worked out in great detail.
You will be glad to hear that we are both somewhat stronger, and return to the Priory on Friday next. Tomorrow we spend the afternoon with the Darwins. 863
