Finished packing of books. After lunch we started for Cambridge on a visit to the Sidgwicks. Gurney and his bride 696 went down with us. Our stay at Cambridge one uninterrupted excitement -- guests at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very delightful. We visited Girton and Newnham Hall. Went to Trinity Chapel on Sunday afternoon. 697 Eustace 698 and Arthur Balfour, Prof. Stewart, 699 Jebb, Foster, 700 Stanford, 701 Lord Edmund Fitzmaurice, 702 Trotter, 703 Dr. Kennedy, 704 Jackson, Myers, Colvin, and several others. 705 Went over the Fitzwilliam Museum.
Monday 4 June 1877
Left Cambridge at 1 and reached Witley at 5.15 to find only a portion of the furniture arrived.
