This morning we started with the three servants for Blackbrook and found on arrival that our goods and chattels had not been sent on from Railway and would not arrive till tomorrow! Found the house also wretchedly provided with necessaries -- not a blanket nor a brush -- and most of the things broken or dilapidated. The weather was gloomy and cold and our spirits were considerably damped. We resolved not to make this our home, and if possible to get released from the yearly engagement.
