My dear Mr. William
I did write yesterday to say [Print 2d edition] on title-page, but being of a sceptical turn and having lately had experience of a missing letter I have just sent a telegram repeating that answer to your query.
Thanks for the cheque representing the Dutch and German transactions, and for the cheerful subscription list. Publishing what nobody cares to have is the dreariest business, and we are at least delivered from that preliminary proof of mistake. It is very pleasant to think that in this way my book may help rather than hinder the invalid's recovery.
I am better, but the cold winds are not encouraging.
Yours always truly
M. E. Lewes.
