A great improvement, dear Sara, and I can't help being glad that I sent my perhaps brusque criticisms, not having time to say that "I begged leave respectfully to differ from you."
Miss Barbara Smith and her father and sisters are going to Algiers! in the hope that this extreme application of [change] will complete Bella's recovery. 752
Have you heard that Anna Mary Howitt, 753 alas! has become a spirit medium? There is still enough of this folly left to give a form to monomania. Better be occupied exclusively with the intestinal worms of tortoises than with that! Mr. Lewes burst into laughter the other morning, at seeing a chapter in a scientific book begin thus. "L'helminthologie des tortues est tr'e8s mal connue jusqu' 'e0 present." Shan't we be pitied by a future age that will know everything about those interesting parasites?
