Dear Sara
On looking at the clean sheets of F[euerbach] I see many things to regret -- at least in the three first chapters, but they are merely matters of typography and punctuation. The Introduction wants a few more italics, and the notes are printed on a different plan from the one adopted in the third chapter and pursued through the rest of the work. I don't wonder at this, considering that my usual fallibility was increased by more than my usual headache and other evils when I was looking at the earliest proofs. The consequences must be borne, like all other consequences.
Mr. Bray passed yesterday with me -- very pleasantly to me, but he was hindered from his intended evening walk in Kensington Gardens by a visit from Dr. W. Smith 486 and Mr. Pears who took tea with us.
Much love and gratitude to you, dear Sara, for your sympathy and encouraging words -- a great debt which I can't pay. The money debt I send in stamps.
