My dear Sara
Mr. Lewes prefers the larger title page, and so did I, before referring the matter to him. But the size of the volume is rather the question than the comparative appearance of these two title pages [three lines torn away.] I shall be sure to read a great deal of them before seeing you.
The title is quite unobjectionable, I think -- indeed, it is an attractive title to people who think that religion is not merely a superfluous appendage belonging to a lower stage of development like the branchiae in frogs. Hoping soon to see you
Ever your
Pollian.
