Dear Sara
Mrs. Chapman said she should charge Mrs. C. Hennell last night with a message of invitation to you. I am sure she will be heartily glad to see you and so will Mr. Chapman. Just now we are in rather uninteresting circumstances -- Mr. C. up to the ears in a business affair all about Bookselling and discounts, 18 which things grate horribly on my ears -- and the weather is generally detestable, so that hardly any going out can be done.
Mrs. Chapman is going to Leamington for a week on business, and I remember you said that you should not like to be here when she was out. I say all these things, not to prevent you from coming now if you feel inclined, but just to let you know how the land lies. To me it will be a pleasure to have you, -- come when you will.
We are going to Mr. Mackay's tonight, but I am in a miserable state of languor and low spirits in which everything is a trouble to me.
I must tell you a bit of Louis Blanc's English which Mr. Spencer was reciting the other night. The petit homme called on Thornton
Hunt, I think, and said "I come to tell you how you are. I was at you the other day. But you were not." 19 Best love to all
