Dear Sara
Send the proof, 99 by all means. I shall read it with pleasure. But hurl that detestable title to the Domdaniel 100 where Dr. Doran 101 and his books will assuredly go, along with all books and authors who deal in alliterative titles. I would carefully not open a book with such a title. Lest you should despise my opinion, I have asked Mr. Lewes to write his, which I know is of the same complexion.
The contemplated servant did not come, as we found her character unsatisfactory, so we have still our scatter-brain Caroline, and Mr. Lewes is "making himself into four," in writing answers to advertisements and other exertions which he generously takes on himself, to save me. A model husband.
The iron I took was assisted by quinine -- a prescription of Erasmus Wilson's, 102 not Mr. Spencer's. Mr. Spencer has urged several specifics for his friends since the iron. They are required now to take nux vomica on pain of his contempt -- the ground therefor being that he took it himself and got a bad cold by it -- also, that he drank an extra cup of coffee in consequence. 103
