Dear Sara
If you have not an autograph of Lewes I think you will like the enclosed -- as a very characteristic one.
After all, I begin to hope that our next number will be the best yet. Forbes 111 is good -- Froude 112 ditto -- and James Martineau, 113 if I may judge from a glance at a few of his pages, admirable. Lewes has written us an agreeable article on Lady Novelists -- there is a mysterious contribution to the Independent Section -- F. Newman 114 has done his best, and we are hoping that an article on Edinburgh Literary Men yet to come will be very good -- if not, we shall put in Niebuhr, which is capital. 115
These are grand secrets, so don't tell Mr. Bray the names without giving him a long lecture beforehand.
Ever thine,
Pollian.
